My Title: Privilege, Honor and Opportunity because of MERCY
My Verse: 11
"11 And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord,' for they shall ALL know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more."
My Response:
God I needed this today! - I needed to be reminded that your favor is poured out on ALL of us. You died SO THAT ALL WHO WANTED TO DRAW NEAR TO YOU, COULD DO SO. Forgive me for my wayward heart because every time, literally, every time I don't approach the throne it's MY SELFISHNESS that keeps me from doing so.
Lord, as you give me more and more opportunities to put down my selfishness and approach your throne of MERCY and GRACE please allow my heart to be reminded that YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT IT IS THAT I AM STRUGGLING WITH! You CHOSE not to remember my iniquities. Your NEW and BETTER COVENANT doesn't rely on ME AT ALL! It ALL relies on YOU and what YOU'VE accomplished. You are perfect and loving and merciful and gracious and faithful. You are a perfect Father. Thank you for adopting me as a SON. Help me to be more like you so that my children have a better understanding of WHO YOU ARE.
Side note: I love that you are in the "making all things new business!" The law was just a shadow of the perfect covenant YOU would make. I am just a broken version of the perfect version you are making new. Your kingdom come Father, YOUR will be done.
My Notes:
Jesus as High Priest is BETTER in EVERY WAY. He sits in the tent that the LORD set up... not man. The tent on earth was just a PICTURE! Where Jesus is, is the REAL DEAL.
The priests on earth only served a copy or a SHADOW of what was to come
There was fault in the first covenant (us) or there would be no need to make a better one (one that relied solely on Him)
The covenant made with His people in bringing them out of Egypt we couldn't keep. Seder/Passover was only a picture of what God intended to do through Jesus.
After Jesus God promised to write His laws on our minds and hearts!
They shall ALL KNOW ME... WE ALL HAVE BEEN SHOWN MERCY AND BEEN GIVEN THE PRIVILEGE, HONOR AND OPPORTUNITY TO DRAW NEAR TO THE LORD!!!
On account of the Lord's MERCY He will write His laws on our hearts and minds and we shall ALL know Him, from the least to the greatest! He will remember our sins no more.
Jesus fulfilled the law to make a new and better covenant. This makes the OLD covenant OBSOLETE! <-- LIVE LIKE IT, you HAVE a loving and merciful High Priest that UNDERSTANDS your struggles.
