My Title: By Faith BECAUSE God IS Faithful
My Verse: 11
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
My Response:
THE ROOT and CAUSE of ALL FAITH is BECAUSE YOU CONSIDER and BELIEVE GOD to BEEEEE FAITHFUL! <-- Boom. Mic drop. That is all for today. Go out and LIVE LIKE GOD IS FAITHFUL. - "Vs. 39 And ALL these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, 40 since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect." - What part of God's story and plan has He called YOU to be apart of?!
My Notes:
Faith is the ASSURANCE of things HOPED for, the CONVICTION of things not seen.
By it...
people of old received their commendation.
we understand that the universe was CREATED by the WORD of God.
Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain.
Enoch was taken up so that he WOULD NOT SEE DEATH.
without it, it is impossible to please God. - For WHOEVER would DRAW NEAR TO GOD MUST BELIEVE that HE EXISTS. (He rewards those who seek Him)
Noah constructed and Ark. (By this he condemned the world and and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.)
Abraham obeyed. He went out not knowing where he was going. - He went living in tents! He was looking forward to the city whose very foundations and designer is GOD!
Sarah herself received power to conceive, SINCE she considered Him faithful who had promised. (The result of that faithfulness are the descendants that outnumber the stars and sand on the seashore.) These all died without receiving the things promised. - They acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on this earth. - They desire a BETTER homeland! - Therefore God is NOT ashamed to be called their God, for He HAS prepared for them a city.
Through FAITH Abraham offered up his son (the one promised and only hope for his promised inheritance could come from) believing that God would raise him from the dead.
Issac invoked future blessings on Jacob and Esau.
While dying blessed each of his sons.
Joseph made mention of the exodus of the Israelites by mentioning where to bury his bones.
Moses was hidden for 3 months when he was born. They were not afraid of the kings edict.
Moses, when grown refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward! - By FAITH he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the King, for he endured as SEEING Him who is invisible. - By FAITH he kept the Passover and sprinkled the blood so that the Destroyer (God Himself) might not touch them.
the people crossed the Red Sea on dry land.
the walls of Jericho fell and the prostitute Rahab did not perish
What MORE shall I say? For time would fail me!!! - To tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, the prophets, WHO THROUGH FAITH conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight. Women received back their dead by RESURRECTION. Some were tortured, refusing to accept release, SO THAT they might rise again to a BETTER life. Others suffered mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment, they were killed with the sword. They went about in skins of sheep and goats, destitute, afflicted, mistreated-of whom the world was not worthy-wandering about in deserts and mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And ALL these, though commended through their faith, DID NOT receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
