My Title: What is YOUR Aim?

My Verse: 15

"15 As it is written, 'Whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack.'"

My Response:

What is your aim? What are you aiming at every morning that you wake up? What's on your mind? What are you thinking about as you get ready for the day? What takes up the majority of your to-do list right now? How MUCH of that is controlled by God?

God LOVES a cheerful giver. Why? Because you can only cheerfully give when you know it's not yours because you trust God for what you've got. If it was given to you, then why WOULDN'T you give it to others too. The world does not understand this because, in their minds, they work HARD to EARN every stinkin' penny they've got... NO MATTER HOW RICH THEY ARE, giving it away just seems foolish... unless of course it buys them a public gold star that will attest to their noble character.

Test your heart, because it will deceive you most of all.

How Will This Make You a Better Husband/Father/Man:

Test your own heart often. Test the hearts of your employees and your family often too! When they are found to be earnest COMMEND them! How do you test your own heart? Give beyond your means. How do you test the hearts of others? Ask them to use it wisely and hold them accountable. Encourage those that are generous and help others to desire the JOY that comes from being a cheerful giver for no other reason than what God is asking of you. The joy is not in the giving or the receiving, because they wont always measure up to your expectations. The joy of the LORD is the reward that satisfies. Let HIM encourage you and pat you on the back. Let your giving be done in the light of HIS glory. Teach your family to do the same.

My Notes:

  • Where is your HEART to GIVE to the work of the Lord.

  • "In a SEVERE test of affliction, their abundance of JOY and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part."

  • See that YOU excel in this act of grace also.

  • Jesus was RICH yet for YOUR SAKE He became poor, SO THAT by HIS poverty you might become rich.

  • Fairness... we all supply for each other when the other has need! Love.

  • What is YOUR aim? What are you AIMING at? For Paul, Titus and this famous preacher of the gospel (we can't be sure who he was talking about here), their aim was at what is honorable not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight of man.

  • They also sent one that they had tested many times and found earnest.

  • Giving of your wealth is PROOF of your love of the Lord's work and those about it.

What was YOUR response? Leave it in the comments.
