My Title: Seeing with Spiritual Eyes
My Verse: 17-18
"17 Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord. 18 For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends."
My Response:
We walk in the flesh... but we do not war in the flesh. We war in the spiritual. The difficulty here is remembering to SEE the world as spiritual because our eyes only see the physical.
The flesh caters to that which we can see... raised hands in service, growing church attendance, abundant surplus in finances, beautiful buildings... God is more interested in the widow that's protected, the orphan that is genuinely loved and cared for and the good Samaritans that don't have the "right" religious upbringing. The war that we fight is spiritual.
How Will This Make You a Better Husband/Father/Man:
Your authority as a husband and father is not to demean, discourage, or destroy those that NEED and DEPEND on you for direction, guidance, and instruction.
SEE your world with SPIRITUAL eyes. Your children and the war for their hearts. Your wife and marriage and the war for your affection, attention and time. - Focus on what GOD would have you do, one step at a time. Don't lose focus on HIM. - "The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds."
Pray.
My Notes:
Vs. 3-4 "3 For thought we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds."
Your leadership and authority, if given by God is purposed FOR BUILDING UP not destroying those put in your charge.
Don't be about commending yourself on the back. Don't measure yourself with others around you. Stay focused on what God's called you to. (Positively OR Negatively!) Just DO what God is showing you to do. Let God commend you.
